I had a call from the Bowker company today. Mike Ruhl, who is a product manager there called to apologize for the trouble I had on their site the other day and to tell me the design of the site is under review. He also said that on the day I was attempting to get an ISBN, they were having server problems which accounted for some of what I ran into. I appreciated the call.
