I’m looking for opinions on the graphic cover for Deadly Awakening. It was done by Josh Gatcke, who is now working on page layout. Thanks.

Wonderful choice… looks great. It nicely defines the genre of the book, without misleading. And combining the macro and the micro… are those two people standing at the base of the pyramid to the left? Nice scale.
It looks like the title is 2012. It’s very hard to read the “deadly awakening” part.
Otherwise very nice.
Hmmm… My impression of the one I saw at Thanksgiving was more positive than is my impression of this one. Whether or not both covers are the same, I think the following changes might usefully be considered (in no particular order):
* Give stronger definition to Maya pyramid, i.e. make it stand out more;
* also give more emphasis to title, for example, put a red wash over each letter
* I think your name should be given more prominence but I don’t know where else I’d put it.

I don’t think my name could be much more prominent. It embarrasses me, it’s so big. But you are right about the title – you and another commenter mentioned that it’s a little hard to make out and I agree. thanks.

First of all you should have contrasting colors so letter are seen better such as Deadly Awakening, grey on grey. I also think that 2012 should be smaller and Deadly….. should be bigger. As for color the mexican tiles have beautiful blues and reds in them. I’m now wondering if you only wanted to go with 2 colors. Even with that there are better colors.
First, let me say I am totally unfamiliar with the presentation of on-line books. So my comments are given under a presumption that a search is involved, and that a likely reader would have searched for “2012″ or a similar tag.
IF that is so, I love the cover! I think there is a nice irony between the “Deadly Awakening” and it’s subtle presentation.
