I’m having a couple of problems with Amazon’s Digital Publishing Platform. I proofed the book and made a few changes, but I can’t get the new version uploaded and I’m worried that I’ve screwed up the currently posted version. There is no way to check without going to a PC that doesn’t have the book and buy it. Where you put in the name of the file to post, there is a Browse function, which I used, found the file and now it appears in the window on the input screen. However, even after I finalize the steps, the old version is still up.
The other problem is with Amazon Associates. I’m trying to insert the software to produce a connection from my site to buy my book. When I come to the part of the process where you enter the book, I do so and it can’t find it. You can enter the book by ISBN number, so I did that but it doesn’t work either.
I have a feeling that both of these things, to quote a computer guru of mine, are Operator Error.
Postscript next day: I didn’t realize, or forgot, that when you upload your version on DTP, it takes a day or so for them to actually get it online. So today it works and the latest version of 2012: Deadly Awakening is now up on Amazon Ebooks!
I still have to solve the problem of how to allow people to buy the book through my site.
Until you solve the problem using the ISBN, why not just put an Amazon “My Favorites” widget on your site.
I have a tool bar for Amazon Associates on my Amazon page. All I have to do is get the page of the product that I want and click Add to Widget on the tool bar and I get the code to imbed.
I have just started working with that particular widget.
Sounds like a good idea and I’ll try it. Thanks, Jane. But I think I will have problems with it finding the link to my page, which is what I’ve already run into. There is a page, but their retrieval software seems to miss it when you want to insert the link. b
Hey, let me know if you want help figuring it out. I need some editing done…
