Excellent Spanish Class in Merida

February Classes

This class given by archaeologist/ethnologist Marina Aguirre, is fun, informative, and productive. I’ve taken Marina’s classes and her material is fascinating. She prepares handouts for the classes and after you go over the info on the handout, there is a discussion on the material. All is done in Spanish. I thoroughly recommend Marina’s classes. See her website for details.

Since visiting you and your wonderful city I have become fascinated by the archeology, history and people of the Yucatan BUT I am a complete non-verbal person when it comes to Spanish. This class looks so great, and I am determined, before I come down to visit you next December (Oh, did I mention that?) that I will have a few words of concepts and a few pathetic sentences in mat my disposal.
    (Wish me luck)

I’m with you on this Beryl, I also think Marina does a great job with slowing her speach and assessing the participants to be sure everyone is ‘getting it’.
    Plenty of time for questions.

Her info is so fabulous – it’s a fabulous History/Cultural lesson wrapped in a Spanish lesson…or is it a Spanish lesson wrapped in a History/Cultural lesson?
    Either way, it’s fabulous!

    Another coincidence for us Beryl,
My friend and I just started Spanish lessons with Marina yesterday. Our first lesson was excellent….Marina is very low key but her teaching methods are effective and she was really able to assess our language levels and gear the lesson to them….the two hours just flew by and my confidence level was raised considerably. We plan to attend twice each week until we leave at the end of March.
