  1. @ Berylisima

    * Do you have some kind of very expensive camera?

    * Do you toil over your photos for many hours with pricey editing software?

    * Why are so many of your pics so lovely?

    * Has there ever been an exhibition, anywhere, of your photos?

    * Are they available for purchase?

    * Did you study photography? If so, where?

    * Or did you study another visual medium?

    * You seem to have an eerie knack for composition.

    * Do you simply take dozens of shots of the same subject and, like those millions of monkeys typing away for millions of years who accidentally produce a fairly decent copy of Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, somehow get lucky?

This is known as the INFINITE MONKEY THEOREM, Berylisima.

And, because of the INFINITE MONKEY THEOREM, I believe you are NOT “just lucky,” but, rather, have SOME KIND OF STRANGE AND FANTASTIC INTUITIVE TALENT FOR PHOTOGRAPHY!

    Please, allow me to explain.

If many THOUSANDS OF BILLIONS OF MONKEYS were to sit down, right now, this very minute, and start frantically typing away, as fast as their tiny hairy fingers could skitter across a keyboard, and continued typing away UNTIL EVERY LAST BIT OF HEAT DISSIPATES FROM THE UNIVERSE AND IT COLLAPSES IN ON ITSELF AT A SPEED APPROACHING OR, IN SOME SCENARIOS, EVEN SURPASSING, THE SPEED OF LIGHT, it would still be very very very unlikely that these tireless, industrious monkeys could produce a fairly decent copy of Beckett’s Happy Days, or even of Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask.

In fact, the chances of these monkeys producing something as comparatively simple as Newt Gingrich’s laughably idiotic piece of shit To Save America: Stopping Obama’s Secular-Socialist Machine are 1 in 10 followed by about 184,000 zeros. And if 1 billion is 10 followed by only eleven zeros — 1,000,000,000,000 — then you can imagine the size of the number described by 10 followed by 184,000 zeros.

So, the hard, undeniable mathematics of this situation clearly demonstrate that you are not just lucky.

    You are extremely talented.

    * Are you from an artistic family?

    * Did your parents or grandparents possess uncanny artistic abilities?

    * When are you going to do an exhibit of your photographs of life in the Yucatan peninsula?
